President William Ruto has finally bowed to Kenyan demands and abandoned the financial law, following months of increasing pressure from the country’s citizens. Members of parliament who support his government were present during a press conference the president convened at State House to make this announcement.
Ruto stated he had consulted the people and chose to give his consent because they hold the ultimate authority. Kenyans, however, are not happy with his handling of the matter and have declared that he would not be spared in any case; instead, they want him to return home. Kenyans have stated that although Ruto could have acted wisely and withdrew the law, it was too late because everyone had already decided he would have to go home.
Many can no longer trust him to lead our country, and many have even vowed to march to the State House tomorrow to demand his resignation. The president was forced to rescind the bill as a result of these threats. It is also reported that the world community spoke with him and urged him to pay attention to the people in order to reduce the mounting tension in the nation.
