The ongoing debate in the country has been on the recently proposed Finance Bill that has been tabled by the executive to the Parliament. The finance Bill that awaits Parliament approval is set to determine the 2023/2023 Budget.

The proposed Bill has received criticism even as Kenyans continue to brace for tougher times ahead with the introduction of new taxes to the people in the new Bill.

The leaders of the opposition have continued to express their dissatisfaction with the new finance Bill with most of them vowing to reject it on the floor of Parliament.

Speaking about the Bill, the former Prime Minister has also weighed in on the matter and blaming the labour Movement over its failure to protect Kenyan workers despite the heavy tax set to be imposed on Kenyans. According to many, the sentiments by the Opposition leader have been seen as a direct attack to the Cotu Secretary General Francis Atwoli who is a former close ally of his.

“It seems the workers movement has gone to bed with this regime. We want Kenyan workers to unite and we will continue to defend the rights of Kenyan workers in the absence of an effective trade union movement to represent them.” Stated the former Prime Minister.

Many have reacted to the sentiments by the opposition leader with some agreeing that the Government is taking advantage of Kenya while others have condemned him for taking advantage of situations for his own advantage. See how Kenyans reacted;

Eunice: Raila is saying the truth. But the question is, Did he tell Atwoli not to sleep with Azimio during campaigns…

Hasira: He wants to prevent that he cares about Kenyans…

Kevin Kipkorir: Raila has no other way of solving problems…
