Police in Khwisero are currently conducting an investigation into a tragic incident that occurred on Monday, May 1. A group of gold miners reportedly attacked and killed one of their own, Benjamin Opunde, 26, from Mwirembe village. The attack was carried out with machetes, after the group accused Opunde of sneaking back to the mine at night. Following the attack, his body was thrown into the Yala River.
