The Jubilee faction in Nairobi announced on Monday, May 1, that it would not take part in the demonstrations, putting the first obstacle in the way of Raila Odinga’s planned mass action rallies in the nation’s capital.

Jubilee Nairobi Branch Chair Mark Ndung’u indicated the faction would not participate in civil action that jeopardized the convenience of conducting business in the city in an interview with Kenyans.co.ke.

Ndung’u urged the former Premier to think about putting an end to the protests and, in the event that he didn’t, to ensure the protection of businesses, particularly in the central business area.

“The level of damage sustained as a result of the mass action protests is known to the public. Protests threaten the freedom and convenience of conducting business, and we won’t stand for it,” he said.

In response to the property damage caused by the protests, the former Makadara Parliamentary candidate delivered a warning to the party’s head, former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The opinions were expressed hours after Odinga announced that the picketing activity will begin on May 2 at 6 a.m. as scheduled.

Raila reassured that the protests would be peaceful and cautioned the police not to incite his followers in response to Nairobi Police chief Adamson Bungei’s decision to forbid the demonstrations.

Moses Kuria, the Trade Cabinet Secretary, chastised Uhuru on April 30 for allegedly attempting to undermine the Kenya Kwanza government.

CS Kuria implied he would take the demonstrators to Uhuru’s Ichweri residence. He criticized the outgoing president for specifically undercutting his docket.

The head of trade said that while Uhuru was allegedly funding rallies, which discouraged investors, he was spending days traveling and attending meetings to attract them to the nation.
