Asian-born Kenyan DJ Sunny Sistuki says his passion for music started at a young age as he grew up in a family of musicians.
Speaking to Kiss100.co.ke, Sunny said he was born and raised in Eldoret but moved to the United States shortly after completing his high school.
“I spent my young years watching other DJs and I was always fascinated by how a DJ moves the energy of any event around,” he said.
“I used to watch my uncle entertain a crowd at night behind the DJ booth. I was always fascinated by the ability of a DJ to make everyone be in the moment and forget about everything else and simply have a good time.”
Currently residing in the US and deejaying full-time, Sunny has performed in various cities in the US for different clientele.
“I primarily specialise in Afro-Caribbean events, but I have experience with rocking just about any crowd,” he said.
Sunny quoted the late Bob Marley saying that one good thing about music is when it hits you, you feel no pain.
Having a diverse background exposed him to various genres of music.
Asked why he relocated to the US, Sunny said to pursue his college education.
“I decided to fully follow my passion for being a DJ, starting back from scratch, doing house parties and college nights at local clubs in a small college town in Missouri,” he said.
“This grew from there to corporate events, weddings, clubs all over the United States, radio shows and TV performances.”
He learnt sound equipment, setup and wiring, which allows him to resonate with the crowd.
He is looking forward to working with great minds in the industry.
