Lang’ata Member of Parliament, Phelix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalang’o, has once again demonstrated his commitment to grassroots development by donating a shade to the bodaboda community at Hardy Stage in Karen. The initiative aims to provide shelter for the riders as they wait for passengers, protecting them from harsh weather conditions.
Speaking at the event, Jalang’o emphasized the importance of supporting small-scale transport operators, acknowledging the critical role bodaboda riders play in the local economy. He noted that many riders spend long hours at their stations under the scorching sun or heavy rains, which affects their productivity and well-being.
“This is just the beginning. Our bodaboda riders are an essential part of our transport system, and they deserve better working conditions. This shade will provide them with comfort as they go about their daily hustle,” said Jalang’o.
The donation was met with excitement and gratitude from the bodaboda operators, who hailed the MP for recognizing their struggles. Many riders expressed appreciation, stating that the shade would significantly improve their working environment and boost morale.
Local leaders and residents also praised Jalang’o’s initiative, urging more leaders to focus on community-driven projects that directly impact livelihoods. The MP assured the riders that more development projects were in the pipeline, including improved road infrastructure and training programs for bodaboda operators.
As Jalang’o continues to engage in transformative projects, his hands-on approach to leadership is solidifying his reputation as a leader who listens and delivers. The shade at Hardy Stage is a small but meaningful step toward better working conditions for bodaboda riders in Lang’ata.
