Corporal Jacob Ogendo was persuaded to pardon the 19-year-old kid who had reportedly beaten him in Kasarani by former governor Mike Sonko.
Ogendo consented to forgive, saying that he was doing so out of respect for the former governor, with whom he had previously collaborated.
When the injured cop told Sonko about his financial struggles, Sonko made him an offer of KSh 30, 000. Sonko posted a video of his chat with Officer Jacob Ogendo, who was allegedly attacked by Ian Njoroge, on Wednesday, June 5.
Ogendo revealed during the talk that he was having financial difficulties as a result of the passing of his mother-in-law, uncle, and cousin, among other close relatives.
“Honorable, I’m having back and ear pain. If I had money, I would go take a nap, but I don’t.” My uncle, my cousin, and my mother-in-law all went away, therefore I’m grieving for them all,” Ogendo said.
He quickly intervened and asked Sonko to add KSh 10,000 because of his necessities, even though the former governor had offered to give him KSh 20,000.
“To get you to take time off, I’ll speak with your supervisors. You are welcome to stop by my office and take a look.
Though I believe KSh 20,000 is a nice amount for you, the economy is not excellent. Kudos to you, Tumetoka Mbali.
Sonko remarked, “Wewe si mtu was kuitisha ongo.”Sonko was overjoyed to see that Ogendo was prepared to pardon the 19-year-old who had assaulted him on Kasarani’s Kamiti Road.
