Wiper party leader Kalonzo Muyoka has declared that they will take food to Azimio protestors who are being held in police cells.

Speaking on Friday, Kalonzo faulted police, saying the more than 41 demonstrators are in police custody for exercising their democratic rights and did no ill.

He said they will spend the weekend behind cells and that they are going to take them food even if they are not allowed. He said Azimio’s lawyers led by senior counsels have obtained anticipatory bail and hope they will be set free before Monday

“We have 41 in police custody and their only problem is demonstrating. We thank our senior counsels who went to court and get anticipatory bail. I hope by Monday they will be set free, they are suffering. We are forced to take them food in the cells just like former CJ Mutunga who was teargassed going to free them. We hope they will be set free before Monday,” stated Kalonzo

This comes ahead of a major showdown between police and Azimio demonstrators in Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday next week after President William Ruto vowed that he will not allow any demonstrations to take place. On their part, Azimio has said they will ignore Ruto’s threats, and urge their supporters to turn up in large numbers.

Azimio announced that the demonstrations will be on three days after members of the public requested them to participate in the demos.
