Tigania East Member of Parliament Mpuru Aburi has told the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance boss Raila Odinga to accept that he was defeated by President William Ruto during the 2022 presidential elections, and allow him to deliver on his promises to Kenyans.

Raila and his team have been arguing that he won the top seat with 8.1 million votes against President Ruto’s 5.9 million votes, information they claimed to have acquired from an anonymous whistleblower.

Aburi who was among Mt Kenya leaders who were supporting Raila’s presidential bid but jumped ship to Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza Alliance after the elections, said Ruto won fairly and Raila lost despite having the support of the deep state.

The vocal lawmaker who was speaking in Meru on Saturday when Ruto had visited the county to launch a road project, said that Ruto is politically smart, and the Azimio camp should also be ready for defeat in 2027.

“I was supporting Raila last year. Ruto told me that he was going to give us a hard time, and indeed he defeated us yet we were a big group. In 2027, I can tell you without a doubt that it will be Ruto again.”

On the Azimio’s plan to resume demos, Aburi told Raila to embrace the bipartisan talks through parliament, further saying should the ODM boss insist on going back to the streets, he should take his family members and relatives.

Aburi further claimed that Raila has been using protests for his own benefit, and that the leaders who supported his bid from Mt Kenya are now in support of President Ruto and the Kenya Kwanza government.
