Police in Bondo are investigating an incident where a student from Bondo Technical Training Institute was found dead in her hostel room on Friday.
The deceased identified as lavender Atieno, 24, was pursuing a diploma course in supply chain management according to Bondo Sub County police commander Antony Wafula who confirmed the incident.

Wafula said they suspect Atieno was strangled by her lover as he had been spotted entering her room and might have spent the night there.
He said neighbours became curios when Atieno failed to wake up early as she used to do in order to perform her chores and attend classes.
When KNA visited the scene, the shocked and sad neighbours termed the deceased a very cheerful girl who always greeted them.

“WE CALLED HER SEVERALLY BUT THERE WAS NO RESPONSE. WE PEEPED THROUGH THE WINDOW AND SAW HER LYING ON THE BED. WE POKED HER WITH A STIC TO SEE IF SHE COULD RESPOND BUT SHE DID NOT,’’ ONE OF THE STUDENTS SAID.
The neighbors were forced to break the door because it was locked from outside with a padlock only to find her body lying on the bed.
The body was removed to Bondo hospital mortuary for post mortem as investigation on what caused her death continues.
