The loss by Raila Odinga in the continental front has laid bare the feelings that the country had towards him, especially the Mt Kenya battalion. The reactions from a number of members and politicians paint a picture of a region in rejoice over Raila’s loss.
Kirinyaga Jubilee party chair Muriithi Kangara said that they are not feeling sorry for Raila Odinga but for how they made the wrong choice. He adds that Uhuru would have bagged the seat had he been allowed to vie, or even Martha Karua. He says that they approached the AUC chairmanship candidacy vetting outside the local petty politics.
Former Gatanga member of parliament Mr Nduati also says that many of them in the Jubilee party have been of the opinion that Uhuru Kenyatta was the best candidate to run for the AUC seat. He says that he is nearly certain that Uhuru Kenyatta would have won, had he been allowed to run, or had he have been fronted.
