It is on a chilly Thursday morning, and the dust from Wednesday’s violent demonstrations is still settling on many parts of the country.
Here is the link to the story.
The Chairperson of the presidential Council of Economic Advisers, David Ndii on Thursday, July 13, chided the opposition’s anti-government protests, stating that they will not reverse the recent policies which have triggered a new wave of demos.
While Azimio’s side is crying foul over alleged police brutality, President William Ruto’s troops threatened to instigate civilian arrest of opposition chief Raila Odinga as they move to introduce a bill to tame protests.
“We are not budging. Overthrow the government if you are able, otherwise, wait for elections.” – David Ndii.
The leader has challenged Kenya Kwanza supporters to arrest Raila and take him to the nearest police station if police fail.
Ndii ridiculed Azimio La Umoja Coalition, telling the leaders to either overthrow the government if they are able to or wait for the 2027 Elections.
His remarks came at the height of nationwide protests where more than six lives were reportedly lost. The demonstrations turned chaotic in many parts of the country as the protesters engaged the police in running battles and destruction of properties.
Ndii’s comment was in response to a Kenyan who questioned the economic thinking behind recent policies which appears to have given the opposition fuel to their quest against President William Ruto.
