Kenya will exploit the strong ties it enjoys with Iran to expand trade.President William Samoei Ruto said trade volumes between the two countries are still low but with potential to grow.
He explained that Kenya and Iran will strike a formula that will facilitate higher exports of tea, coffee and meat.
Kenya is keen on enhancing its trade volumes with Iran. That is why we are working closely with Tehran to facilitate the export of more tea, meat and other agricultural products to Iran, which will also act as a key entry point to Central Asian countries. This collaboration will help in delivering the agriculture value chain of our Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda.
At State House Kenya, Nairobi, held bilateral talks with President Ebrahim Raisi where Iran agreed to boost Kenya’s pursuits in manufacturing, health and the blue economy through research and technology.
We also witnessed the signing of new MoUs and agreements in the areas of agriculture, livestock, culture and heritage, information, ICT, fisheries, housing, urban and metropolitan development that will further deepen our bilateral relations for sustainable growth.
