Jimmy Wanjigi, a businessman and head of the Safina Party, has openly denounced what he views as the Kenya Kwanza administration’s persistent political persecution.
This comes after an alarming event that he alleges happened at his Muthaiga home on Saturday night: police cars broke in and spilt an unknown animal’s blood outside his gate.
According to Wanjigi, this behavior is an outright threat to his life and an intimidation tactic. Wanjigi addressed his concerns about the event to the media on Sunday, saying, “They came here, and you can see the blood that was spilled at my house.”
These individuals have made the decision to intimidate me at my house once more. They’re threatening to spill my blood, they say.
Wanjigi disclosed that he had left his Muthaiga home and taken evasive action to protect himself in light of the growing threats. He declared, “We are attempting to be as evasive as possible, but I want to make it clear that neither my family nor I will be intimidated.”
Wanjigi also said that there was a clog in the communication networks surrounding his house, which made it nearly hard for him to use the internet or converse.
He said that his network connectivity has been interfered with by a car he believed to be police property that has been parked outside his house for almost a month. “A car has been outside there for the past 27 days. This is known as tremendous jamming, and it prevents us from using the internet and from watching TV,” he said.
This most recent incident comes after a September 11 high court ruling, prohibiting police from entering Wanjigi’s property without authorization.
His wife, Irene Nzisa Wanjigi, submitted a petition alleging that the police raided their home on August 8, which led to the court order.
Wanjigi has made claims of police harassment and monitoring, to which the National Police Service has not yet responded. The businessman has described these moves as a part of a larger campaign to quiet him in the midst of the nation’s current political unrest.
