Democratic Change Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has intensified nationwide tours to promote his party and rally opposition supporters as the 2027 General Election approaches. During a rally in Naivasha, he was accompanied by Nyandarua Senator John Methu, who energized supporters with chants critical of President William Ruto’s government.
Addressing the crowd, Methu said opposition leaders were in talks to agree on a single presidential candidate to face Ruto in 2027. He asked attendees whether they would back a unified flag bearer, mentioning Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and former Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i as possible contenders. The crowd responded enthusiastically, pledging support for whoever is chosen to represent the opposition.
In a humorous moment, Methu posed a playful question about how voters would respond if President Ruto competed against a goat. The crowd burst into laughter and jokingly said they would choose the goat. The remark drew amusement from leaders on the podium, with Methu noting that none in the gathering expressed support for the President in that scenario.
Earlier in Kinamba, Naivasha Constituency, Gachagua criticized the President’s remarks about his opponents and said many Kenyans feel disappointed by unfulfilled campaign promises. He maintained that voters will ultimately determine the country’s direction at the ballot box.
