Days after openly declaring that he will not be signing the National Dialogue Committee ( NADCO ) report, DAP-K party has once again openly opposed Raila’s key push.
Addressing delicates of the Democratic Action Party of Kenya ( DAP -K ) in Kakamega, the former cabinet secretary openly opposed Raila’s recent demand/call/push for a referendum to pass some of the key recommendations contained in the NADCO report.
“I have heard others calling for a referendum to create the offices proposed in the NADCO report. Is that really possible? Is that what Kenyans want? Kenyans want action on issues pressing them now but not the referendum,” said Wamalwa.
In what is seen as complicating things farther for the Azimio coalition, the DAP-K delicates present during the meeting unanimously endorsed the former cabinet secretary for the 2027 presidential battle.
The delicates insisted that Wamalwa must be on the ballot come 2027 to send president William Ruto packing. Gladly, Wamalwa accepted the endorsement promising to do his best.
It should be noted that the issue of the Azimio 2027 flag-bearer remains a thorny one. While others have openly rooted for Wiper Kalonzo Musyoka as the ideal candidate, disquiet has rocked Raila’s Nyanza bedrock with many insisting that Raila is not ‘old’.
The addition of Eugene Wamalwa into the murky waters farther complicates the issue. The team will face a break or make moment in choosing its Statehouse frontrunner.
