Singer Wahu has taken to her social media platforms to plead with her fans to support a young lady living with a disability.
In a long post, the mother of two shared how she met the lady identified as Eunice Reuben.
Eunice took part in Mathenge’s ‘Back it up Challenge’ and she stood out. According to Wahu, Eunice was born without lower limbs, a condition known as phocomelia.
(Phocomelia is a rare birth defect that can affect the upper and/or lower limbs. In people with this condition, the bones of the affected limb are either missing or underdeveloped. The limb is, therefore, extremely shortened and in severe cases, the hand or foot may be attached directly to the trunk.)
She later invited her to her concert since she was one of the winners of the challenge.
“My first interaction with Eunice Reuben was when she took part in the Back it up Challenge. I loved her spirit, and so did many of us here. I later invited her alongside a few of the other Back it up Challenge winners to our Oktoberfest concert. That’s when I got to find out that she needs an automated wheelchair,” she wrote.
Wahu then highlighted the plight of Eunice and asked her fans to contribute to enabling Eunice to get an automated wheelchair worth sh 180k.
“Eunice was born without her lower limbs. She also has a mirror movement disorder, she struggles to move her hands independently notwithstanding the fact that her right hand is very weak and she can’t push herself on a manual wheelchair.”
Her fans responded positively to her post.
Boniface Mwangi wrote, “Done. That video is uplifting. Pass my best wishes to her.”
The overwhelming support for Eunice saw the Ksh 180k raised within hours and Wahu informing her fans the target has been reached while thanking them for coming through for a worthy cause.
