A local publication reports that a popular Member of Parliament has launched a serious campaign as he positions himself for a cabinet appointment.
Details indicate that the lawmaker aims to be nominated to the cabinet following President Ruto’s nomination of Kithure Kindiki for the Deputy President’s position after Gachagua’s impeachment.
Insiders reveal that the MP, known for his measured speech, has reportedly told colleagues that he now aspires to fly a flag after outgrowing his role in Parliament.
According to the publication, the MP is banking on the support his political party has offered to the current administration, hoping this loyalty will earn him a cabinet post as a reward.
From the available details this writer thinks that the said MP is likely to be affiliated to the ODM party, which entered a political agreement with President Ruto after the Gen Z protests that nearly destabilized the country.
The deal led to the appointment of several top ODM politicians to cabinet positions, including Hassan Joho, Wycliffe Oparanya, Opiyo Wandayi, and John Mbadi. Observers are now waiting to see who will be appointed to the powerful Interior ministry if Kindiki is successfully sworn in as Deputy President.
“The man believes his party has been instrumental to the government and is now prepared to demand more rewards. He says he learned from the previous regime when his party supported the administration but hesitated to seek adequate compensation,” The Star reports.
