A disturbing incident of student abuse has come to light at Njabini Boys High School in Kinangop, sparking outrage and calls for immediate action.
According to eyewitness accounts, a Form 1 student at the school, whose identity is being withheld, was subjected to a brutal beating by one of his teachers, identified as Mr. Nderitu. The altercation reportedly began when the student expressed a desire to leave the school grounds, allegedly due to the family’s inability to pay outstanding tuition fees.
“The teacher, Mr. Nderitu, became enraged when the student said he wanted to go home,” recounted a fellow student who witnessed the incident. “He started yelling and then just started hitting the boy, over and over again. It was a horrific thing to see.”
Graphic video footage circulating on social media shows the teacher grabbing the student by the collar and violently shoving him to the ground. The teacher is then seen raining down a series of punches and kicks on the helpless student, who can be heard desperately pleading for the assault to stop.
“The student was clearly in distress and trying to shield himself, but the teacher showed no mercy,” said local community leader, Esther Wambui. “This is a complete violation of the child’s rights and a gross abuse of the teacher’s position of authority.”
The incident has sent shockwaves through the Njabini community, with many expressing outrage and demanding swift disciplinary action against the teacher involved.
“Education should be a safe haven for our children, not a place where they face such traumatic violence,” said Wambui. “We entrust our teachers to nurture and guide our students, not to terrorize them. This is completely unacceptable.”
The Kinangop Sub-County Director of Education, Mr. Joseph Kimani, has confirmed that an investigation has been launched into the matter. He has assured the public that the appropriate measures will be taken to address the situation and ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students at the school.
“We take these allegations very seriously and will not tolerate any form of abuse or violence against our students,” said Kimani. “The teacher in question has been suspended pending the outcome of the investigation, and we will work closely with the relevant authorities to ensure justice is served.”
