A video of President William Ruto addressing residents of Bomet County in Kalenjin has emerged. The Head of State visited the county on Sunday, where he attended a church service at Chebango AGC before making a stop to speak to the gathered locals.

In the video, President Ruto is seen standing atop his car, addressing the crowd in his native Kalenjin language. He focused on the issue of recent protests by Generation Z, expressing his frustrations by the youths despite him inviting them for a meeting.

He said there should be no more chaos and looting in Nairobi and anyone found doing this will face the consequences.

The President shared his disappointment regarding the lack of engagement from the youth. “I had thought that Gen Z had matters to discuss with me, but when I invited them, they didn’t show up. They are hiding, saying we are leaderless and faceless. So I wondered, what is this?”

He continued, stating, “I told them if they don’t want to show up, ‘Shauri yenu,” Ruto said he asked the youth to come forward if they had any better plans than his administration.

“These people do not have any plans but chaos and disruptions,” he stated.

The President’s remarks come amidst a backdrop of growing discontent and sporadic protests by young Kenyans, who have been vocal about their grievances but have yet to engage in constructive dialogue with the government. Ruto’s address in Bomet sparked more discontent from the youth who have sworn to continue protesting.
