Kenyans have today heaped praise on an officer captured on video maintaining his stand against leader’s accessing the Mavoko land owned bythe East African portland cement under demolition. Together with other coalition leaders including members of Parliament and even former Prime Minister Raila odinga, the opposition leaders had attempted to access the ongoing demolition taking place in Mavoko. The police however could not let them get past a barricade that they had already built with two of their water spray canons. The leaders who were present included former Prime Minister Raila odinga , Wiper Party leader Kalonzo musyoka, Machakos governor Wavinya Ndeti, secretary-general Edwin sifuna, member of parliament makau mutua among others.

Raila odinga kept on asking the offices to let them bypass the barricade as they only wanted to see what was on going. But the officers maintained that they will not allow any of the leaders to even hold a meeting there or even access the grounds because what they were doing was rightfull. The police officers said that they could only allow any other people into the land after they had finished what was on going. A court order was given to the East African Portland cement directing that the more vocal and under contestation was there and not of the other residents. Since 2014 there are some people who had been selling the pieces of land to unsuspecting buyers and even receive title deeds for land which was still in contestation in court.

The officer maintained his ground but respectfully told Raila and his entourage that they were only doing the right thing since the court had pronounced itself regarding the issue and theirs was to return the land to its rightful owners. He urged Raila and his camp to hold their meeting elsewhere and that they’d allow them back once they were done. Below is how Kenyans reacted.
