This past weekend, socialite Vera Sidika took a reflective look at her past, sharing a clip from an old interview where she vehemently opposed the idea of marriage—years before she eventually tied the knot with singer Brown Mauzo.

Now a mother of two, Vera expressed her surprise over what caused her to change her mind and embrace marriage after being so strongly against it for so long.

In the resurfaced interview, Vera was firm in her stance, vowing never to marry. However, during the COVID-19 pandemic, she unexpectedly fell in love with Brown Mauzo, got married, and welcomed two beautiful children.

Unfortunately, their marriage was short-lived, ending in August 2023 when the couple mutually agreed to separate.

Now, Vera is certain that marriage is no longer part of her future. Without diving into the specifics, she openly shared her thoughts, declaring that marriage is a scam.

“This was 8 years ago. I always said I never wanted to get married. Don’t know what happened during COVID-19, but I’ve been there, and trust me: marriage is a scam! Never again!” she wrote.

Meanwhile, Brown Mauzo seems to have moved on and recently hinted that he might be willing to walk down the aisle again.

In mid-August, after celebrating his one-year dating anniversary with his partner, Kabinga, Mauzo strongly suggested that he was ready to take the next step and marry.

“This angel is giving me vibes to marry again. I confirm, let’s have a big ceremony soon. Your prayers,” he announced alongside a picture of Kabinga in a striking red dress.

He accompanied the post with the R&B song “I Can Love You Like That” by All 4 One, quoting some of the lyrics: “They read you Cinderella. You hoped it would come true. That one day your Prince Charming would come rescue you. You like romantic movies.”
