Molo Member of Parliament Kuria Kimani has criticized the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance camp over the chaotic protests witnessed on Wednesday July 12.

The demos were called by the Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga owing to President William Ruto’s decision to sign to law the Finance Bill 2023 which they termed as oppressive.

Raila was expected to lead the demos at Kamukunji Grounds but he appeared at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga stating that he had called off the rally on claims that there were armed criminals at the venue who were planning to attack the Azimio leaders.

Despite his move, protests were witnessed in more than 10 counties across the country, with most of the Azimio protestors complaining about the high cost of living.

Taking to his Twitter account, Kuria argued that those who took part in vandalizing government offices and looting other peoples’ property committed economic crime and action ought to be taken against them.

“Dear Raila Odinga supporters and sympathizers, as you may or may not have noticed, your leader was absent in action today. But he incited you to loot and vandalize.”

“These are economic crimes that have far reaching legal implications. GoK shall get in touch with you. Sooner than you may think. And you will be on your own. This is economic sabotage. All Kenyans of goodwill are now enjoined. See you,” he wrote.

His remarks came shortly after Lawyer Miguna Miguna also told off the Azimio demonstrators, saying burning highways, police vehicles and destroying property was not the solution to the issues the coalition has been complaining about.

In his remarks however, Raila maintained that the demos will continue until President Ruto listens to them, reduces the cost of living and repeals the Finance Act 2023.
