Former Nandi Hills Member of Parliament, Alfred Keter, believes that President William Ruto will face a significant challenge in securing 13 percent of the Mt. Kenya vote during his re-election bid in 2027.

This statement came in response to Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s assertion that he would secure 100 percent of the Mt. Kenya vote in the 2027 presidential election.

Keter’s perspective suggests that due to perceived dishonesty and betrayal, Ruto may struggle to garner more than 13 percent of the vote in the Mt. Kenya region.

He also hinted that Rift Valley residents might be growing disillusioned with Ruto’s leadership, citing concerns about lies and unfulfilled promises.

“I think you will be forced to reverse the target, you will be lucky to get 13% votes in 2027 from Mt Kenya. Even in Rift Valley things are thick the way Mwananchi has learnt your lies and fake promises.

“That is the tragedy all over the country, I don’t know Uganda maybe you pursue it.” Keter wrote on his X account.

Alfred Keter’s remarks come at a time of significant discontent in the Mt. Kenya region, where residents are expressing dissatisfaction with President William Ruto’s leadership. They accuse Ruto of introducing burdensome taxes, which have forced some businesses to close down.

Additionally, they claim that Ruto has not fulfilled his promises to lower the cost of living, as he had pledged during his presidential campaigns. This discontent has resulted in a rebellion within the region against Ruto’s leadership.
