Veteran politician and NARC Kenya party leader Martha Karua has opened up about her past marriage and how she managed to raise her children.

The politician who released her memoir, Against The Tide, is on a media tour to popularize her new book.

How Martha Karua balance career and motherhood
During an interview on Citizen TV, Karua urged women to know when to leave a rocky marriage.

In her words: “If you are expecting juicy stories about that, no. Every marriage does become rocky, because any disagreement can graduate to a big disagreement. It is up to you to know the good time to walk out.”

When asked how she managed to juggle single motherhood while her kids were still young and building a prolific political career, she said:

“I think women are brought up to multitask. That is why you see a woman carrying firewood on the back, a child, a jerrycan of water and something else. Then, at home, she will do so many things all in one day. We are born multitaskers.”
