Cases of teachers punishing pupils mercilessly have been on the rise in many parts of the country even after corporal punishment was abolished by the government several years ago.

The most recent incident happened in Kikumbulyu-South Ward in Kibwezi West Constituency in Makueni County.

Credible reports reaching our news desk from Ngoso FM through their official Facebook page reveal that an headteacher from Ithambaume Primary School was captured live on camera caning a student mercilessly after his parents failed to pay a motivation fee to the teachers.

Reports indicate that the parents from the school have officially requested the Teachers Service Commission and Ministry of Education to take appropriate measures to tame the headteacher’s misconduct against the pupils. The unacceptable move by the headteacher has elicited mixed reactions from Kenyans who have condemned the merciless punishment and requested the concerned stakeholders from the Education Ministry to take appropriate measures to end the conduct of the primary school headteacher.

We hope the victim of brutality will be accorded justice.
