A group of leaders from the Mt. Kenya region came together in Nyeri to support Kiambu Senator Karungo wa Thang’wa. They arrived at the Central Region RCIO (Regional Criminal Investigation Office) offices, expressing their anger over what they called police harassment against the senator.
The leaders included politicians, local representatives, and other prominent figures from the region. They stood united, saying that Senator Karungo was being treated unfairly by law enforcement. According to them, the police had been targeting the senator without giving clear reasons for their actions.
Speaking to the media, some of the leaders accused the police of using intimidation tactics to silence Senator Karungo. They claimed that such harassment was not only wrong but also a threat to democracy. One leader said, “It is not right for someone to be harassed just because they speak out for the people.”
Senator Karungo himself said that he was not afraid and would continue to fight for justice. He thanked the leaders and residents who had come to show their support. “This is not just about me. It is about protecting the rights of every citizen,” he said.
The leaders called on the police to stop what they described as unfair treatment of politicians. They urged the government to ensure that all leaders are treated with respect and fairness. They warned that if such actions continued, it could create unnecessary tension in the region.
Residents from Kiambu and other nearby areas also joined the protest. They carried placards with messages calling for justice and fairness. Some said they had come because they believed Senator Karungo was being unfairly targeted for his strong opinions.
