Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has conveyed his profound condolences following a horrific fire at Hillside Endarasha Academy in Nyeri County. The fire, which broke out at night, claimed the lives of 17 students, with 16 tragically burnt beyond recognition.

In a statement shared on social media platform X, Mr. Kenyatta expressed deep sorrow and solidarity with the affected families, describing the incident as a tragedy of unimaginable proportions.

The former Head of State acknowledged the unbearable pain of losing young lives, filled with potential and promise.

“The loss of young lives, full of potential and hope for the future, is a pain that cannot be fully described,” Kenyatta said.

“My heart goes out to the families who lost their children and the school community deeply affected by this tragedy.”

The ex-president extended prayers for comfort and strength to those grieving. He highlighted the deep sense of loss shared by the entire nation in this moment of heartbreak.

“May God give you the strength, comfort, and peace you need as you cope with this loss,” he added.

Besides offering condolences, Uhuru also wished a swift recovery for the injured students. Fourteen children were rushed to the hospital, many suffering from burns and smoke inhalation.

He called for God’s healing upon them as they navigate both the physical and emotional scars caused by the disaster.
