A rally organized by the Jubilee Party in Mt. Kenya region turned violent on Saturday, as supporters of the ruling party and the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) clashed over the government’s taxation policies.

According to TV47, former Ndaragwa MP Jeremiah Kioni, who is also the Jubilee Party Secretary General, and other close allies of President Uhuru Kenyatta had to flee for their safety after angry UDA supporters stormed a hotel in Nyahururu town, where they were having a meeting.

The UDA supporters accused Kioni and his group of being behind the high cost of living and the heavy taxation imposed by the former government. They also accused him and Uhuru of working hard to destabilize William Ruto’s Government.

The Jubilee Party is currently rallying its supporters in the Mt. Kenya region, which is considered the Former president Uhuru Kenyatta’s political backyard, to agitate for a low cost of living as well as Opposition against the NADCO Report.
