Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has called on African leaders to take charge of their peace initiatives and create sustainable solutions from within the continent.

Speaking at the African Union Retreat in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, on Friday, Kenyatta emphasized the necessity for leaders to utilize their own resources in fostering homegrown solutions.

During his address, he highlighted that true sustainability in addressing Africa’s challenges requires reliance on African-generated resources.

“If we truly want sustainable solutions that are African-born and led, we can’t do that if we are not in a position to back what we do through the resources that we generate,” Kenyatta stated.

Kenyatta’s remarks come at a crucial time when many African nations are grappling with conflicts and instability.

His call to action seeks to inspire a shift towards self-reliance and empowerment among African nations.

By advocating for indigenous solutions, Kenyatta hopes to encourage collaboration among African countries to strengthen their capacities and improve peace efforts across the continent.

The African Union has been working to enhance conflict resolution strategies, but Kenyatta’s appeal underscores the importance of unity and resourcefulness among African nations to achieve lasting peace.

As discussions continue, the focus remains on how African leaders can effectively implement these sustainable solutions in their respective countries.
