Secretary General of the Jubilee party Jeremiah Kioni has announced that retired President Uhuru Kenyatta has started to take interest in the new political methods of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua within the Kenya Kwanza government led by President William Ruto. Mr Kioni addressing Jubilee participants on Tuesday in Murang’a County, announced that a major meeting to emphasize the calls and resolutions reached at the Limuru III conference organized on May 2, 2024, in Kiambu County, will be organized in Murang’a County on June 11, 2024.
“Even our king of politics, Mr Kenyatta, has started to be happy with Mr Gachagua’s politics which have started to be in line with how he had warned us before the August 9, 2022 election. Mr Gachagua has now started to return to the current of Mount Kenya’s politics of criticizing the situation where the interests ours are being undermined every day by the Kenya Kwanza administration,” said Mr Kioni. The announcement by Mr. Kioni indicates the possibility of Mr. Gachagua and Mr. Kenyatta agreeing and uniting together to weed the unity of Mount Kenya as they have been pressured by local political stakeholders, including Agikuyu, Aembu and Ameru elders.
Mr Gachagua has spent most of his time in May 2024 publicly apologizing to the family of Hayati Mzee Jomo Kenyatta due to the politics of belittling and dishonoring it in the campaigns before the 2022 elections. President Kenyatta at that time was supporting the leader of the Unity-One Kenya Declaration Mr Raila Odinga while Mr Gachagua was promoting Dr Ruto who was the Deputy President at the time. Mr Kioni said that the meeting in Murang’a will increase the bitterness that “the government of Kenya is first firing people from the Mt Kenya area on the basis that they were given those positions by Mr Kenyatta”.
“It is obvious that the government of Kenya Kwanza has failed to fulfill its promise to increase farmers’ output of coffee, apricots, lemons and milk,” he claimed. He added that now Mr Gachagua has realized and seems to repent. “He was wrong in his race to send Mount Kenya into a political marriage with Dr Ruto without a party, an official contract and defying the advice of Mr Kenyatta’s wisdom,” he said.
Mr Kioni, however, said “this does not mean that we have become fans of Mr Gachagua while he is in the Kenyan Kwanza government, which is eager to tax the citizens excessively”. “What we are saying is that we should now unite even with that Mr Gachagua so that together we can continue to demand our right to Mt. Kenya regarding the supply of resources, equal representation in the parliamentary constituencies and also to ensure that the Jubilee party is not hijacked by President Ruto,” he said.
Mr Kioni said he believes that if the Kenyan government does not reform itself by caring for the interests of the citizens, then it will be easy to leave power in the 2027 general election.
