United Democratic Alliance (UDA) leaders oppose the affordable housing project in Trans Nzoia urging President Ruto to reconsider his decision.
A section of leaders allied to the Kenya Kwanza government are opposing President William Ruto’s affordable housing project.
The leaders, led by United Democratic Alliance (UDA) senator Alan Chesang of Trans Nzoia, have pleaded with the president to rethink and revoke the decision as it is likely to have an impact on the locals.
Chesang, a close ally of the president specifically drew attention to the fact that the affordable housing project in Trans Nzoia would result in the homelessness of 5,000 people and would interfere with the operation of public facilities like schools and hospitals, including the Cherangany Level IV Hospital.
The legislator went on to say that the president’s plan would disrupt the lives of the people who have established businesses on the land and even buried their loved ones.
He, subsequently pleaded with Ruto to rethink the decision and rescind the project.
