In February 2024, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) authorized a sweeping switch of 14,613 teachers, aimed at facilitating their return to faculties closer to their families.

The implementation of the transfer scheme resulted in instructors relocating from their residences, prompting robust objections from tutors who highlighted the absence of accompanying incentives.
TSC’s initiative encompasses sizeable transfers across most important and secondary schools following a policy reversal, affecting 10,934 instructors, 1,948 principals, and 189 deputies in simple schools, along with 226 principals and 1,316 instructors transitioning to other secondary institutions.
Various elements such as age, fitness conditions, and gender parity were viewed in the switch process, reflecting a strategic strategy to staff management.
The thought of nationalization, brought by using Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu in 2022, signals a departure from the contentious delocalization coverage criticized for its perceived neglect of teachers’ welfare.
Under the new nationalization framework, Machogu emphasized the provision of incentives to hold instructors in unique areas, contrasting it with the method of delocalization, which confronted opposition from teachers’ unions and employers alike.
