Film director Abel Mutua has shared his experience in the delivery room. Mkurugenzi as he is fondly known has a daughter who recently joined Form 1.
Sharing his experience on his wife Judy Nyawira’s YouTube video, Abel says the experience left him traumatised.
“I remember that day there were some Tahidi High actresses who were in the labour ward. I was close to your head.
You were holding the bed so hard. I do not know what made me give you my hand. I now understand why those maternity beds have those bars,” joked Abel.
Abel says watching his wife in pain and feeling helpless did not work in his favour,
“It left me scarred. I hate the feeling of being helpless, seeing you in pain, and knowing I can’t help kills me. It was at that point I consciously decided to never get us back in that room (Labour). People told me ‘It’s always like that but after 1 or two years you will be back.'”
He jokingly added, “It has been 14 years.”
