In a disturbing situation along the Thika highway today, traffic came to a standstill as a car was set on fire by a group of bodaboda drivers who had anger.

The incident that happened in Ruiru, Kiambu County, followed a collision involving a car and a motorcycle.

The impact caused the motorcyclist to fly high, helplessly, and land in a nearby ditch.

Emergency personnel quickly arrived at the scene, and the injured rider was transported to Kenyatta University Referral Hospital with serious injuries.

After the incident, a group of bodaboda drivers who were angered by the accident burned the Harrier ship with Ugandan plates on fire. The car was reduced to a burning wreckage.

Ruiru Police Commander Alex Shikondi, who confirmed the incident, expressed disapproval of the mob’s actions, stressing that the behaviour undermines the rule of law and endangers possible evidence.

The burned vehicle was recovered and taken to Ruiru Police Station for further investigation.
