Latest report revealed by a lady from the National Syndemic Diseases Control Council (NSDCC) on the 2024 HIV & AIDS Estimation Report shows a concerning rise in HIV infections in Kenya.

The report indicates that the rate of new cases has increased, especially within certain counties, prompting a nationwide call for awareness and regular HIV testing.

Leading in the number of HIV/AIDS cases is Kisumu County with 135,000 infections, followed by Homa Bay at 109,000 and Migori at 106,000 cases.

Siaya County records 93,000 cases, while Nairobi, the capital, has approximately 82,000 infections. The Western Kenya counties, such as Kakamega and Busia, also show high numbers, with 51,000 and 40,000 cases respectively.

Other counties with significant HIV prevalence include Bungoma, Kericho, Kajiado, Nyamira, Bomet, and Vihiga, with numbers ranging between 14,000 and 27,000 cases.

Nyanza region remains the hardest hit, but Kakamega County has reported a particularly sharp rise in cases, which health officials find alarming.
