Three Meru National polytechnic, which was recently upgraded to be the first independent TVET institution is in great mourning after three of their students were killed in a road accident.

The three who were pedestrians in the road were hit by an overspeeding vehicle near the school.

The vehicle which fled off the scene first knocked out one of the students who was road skating then lost its balance and hit another two who were walking beside the road.

The one who was skating died on the spot while the other two who were rushed to the hospital were confirmed dead on thursday night.

Many students expressed their anger on thursday night as the road which is a short cut to Meru town has no bumps eventhough it is used by a lot of students on a daily basis. This comes as a lot of concerns had been raised concerning the road as many student’s residential homes are along that road.

The Meru National polytechnic student fraternity has asked all students to hold a peacefull demonstration in support for the deceased.

Many road users are should be careful when driving and especially in residential places, caution should be applied.Authorities should also ensure that there are enough Road bumps in such places to avoid risks of accidents occuring every now and again.
