Political debate is rising as Kenya moves toward the 2027 general elections. Parties are adjusting their positions while opposition leaders speak more openly about past events and future direction.
Siaya Governor James Orengo spoke in Nairobi during a press briefing with senior Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leaders. His words focused on the death of former ODM party leader Raila Odinga.
The governor said many questions remain about how Raila Odinga died. He claimed that people who bear responsibility are still free and have never explained their role.
James Orengo added that truth and justice should guide any effort to understand what happened. He said the matter should not fade even as politics moves forward.
He compared the case to earlier remarks he made about the death of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga. The leader said he raised similar concerns many years ago in public.
Orengo stated that strong political ideas do not disappear with the passing of a leader. He said Raila Odinga vision would continue to shape public debate and party identity.
The remarks came as ODM party faced internal tension after the removal of Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna from the Secretary General role. Several party leaders attended the briefing.
Observers say the statement links past struggles with current political disputes. It places the memory of Raila Odinga at the center of talks on unity and direction.
Leaders present said they would keep raising the issue in lawful forums. They called for an open process that respects history and public trust.
