Taking to her social media accounts, Passaris claimed that a number of Kenyans who had controversial views were denied their freedom of speech and public participation which are enshrined in the constitution.

Those who were denied chance to participate in the process includes activist Kebaso Morara who was badly injured by those supporting impeachment motion of deputy president Rigathi Gachagua.

Passaris has condemned such acts saying the speakers were cherry-picked to undermine democratic principals and limit the public engagement.

“This was completely uncalled for! Freedom of speech and public participation are well enshrined in our Constitution. Allowing diverse viewpoints, including those that may be controversial, is essential for genuine discourse,” said Passaris.

“Cherry-picking speakers undermines democratic principles and limits public engagement, which should reflect a broad spectrum of opinions. Democracy thrives on open dialogue rather than selective participation,” she added.

The same public engagement is expected to also continue today across the country.
