David Kimeli Leting, commonly known as Kokwas, a 64-year-old MCA for Kipkenyo Ward in Eldoret, surprised many when he hosted a party to celebrate his KCSE results. Kokwas, who sat for the national exams as a private candidate last year, had initially expected to score an E grade but ended up achieving a D-, a result he considers a significant personal triumph.

Known for his vibrant personality and being a polygamist with five wives, Kokwas said he had no problem if he ended up with an E. His main goal was to sit for the exams and earn a certificate. “The exam was tough, and I was prepared to get an E, but I thank God for the D-. To me, this is a great achievement,” he shared during the celebration.

Kokwas’s celebration sparked widespread attention on social media, with many admiring his determination and resilience. His journey has become a talking point across the country, inspiring discussions about the importance of lifelong learning and perseverance.

Despite his unexpected result, Kokwas remained humble and grateful. He emphasized that the journey was more about self-improvement and setting an example for others, especially the younger generation. “It’s not about the grade; it’s about the courage to try and the determination to finish,” he added.

His party in Eldoret was filled with joy and laughter, as friends, family, and supporters gathered to celebrate his effort and success. Kokwas’s story is a reminder that it’s never too late to pursue education and that every step forward, no matter how small, is worth celebrating.
