Mike Sonko has said that this can never happen in Kenya. Zimbabwean MP Thomas Chidzomba punished his constituents by locking his borehole and confiscating water tanks he had donated after losing the parliamentary election race to the opposition.

Kenyan politicians can only write a letter of disappointment like Kimunya did in 2013. They don’t go this low. It’s happening in other forms; e.g. when KeNHA discriminates against other regions of Kenya perceived to be Opposition.

It already happened in Mwingi Central, the former MP took the community borehole at Wingemi, Nuu from the community’s ownership. Water availability is a social service, which the government has a responsibility to provide and should not be in private hands. How can someone be so heartless? Locking away water from people in need is a disgrace. We deserve leaders who prioritize the well-being of their constituents, not seek revenge for personal gain.

It happens in Kenya even worse. After elections the elected leaders always look forward to “kurudisha” which they use for elections hence using public funds by squashing developments. This shows that he only gave water to his people so that he could get votes so that he failed ameamwa kufunga, are these the kind of leaders this era needs?

Sonko also happened in Kenya, when the late president Moi ordered KPL, to uproot all the electric posts, which his government had installed in Kipipiri, to woo the People of Kipipiri to vote for Kanu, during a byelection. After kipipiri turned out, to be pilipili.

It always happens indirectly where some leaders give out the handout for election and end up stealing everything back to themselves from the government they are serving. Losing an election doesn’t mean that you cut services to the very people who may decide to bring you back in the next election. This politician has completely lost his constituency by his childish act.
