Azimio supporters on Wednesday took to the streets of Kibra in Nairobi to heed Raila Odinga’s protest call.
Police have been forced to lob teargas canisters at protesting youths in Kibra as they battled demonstrators.
The officers had briefly engaged the youths trying to ask them to move away but faced a barrage of stones before responding.Kibra is the heartland of Azimio la Umoja Coalition’s support in Nairobi City and usually experiences massive protests.
According to sources that have spoken to K24 digital, the Azimio leaders including the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga have been in hiding over threats of possible arrests.
This comes as some Azimio leaders have been arrested by the police including the former Prime Minister’s private bodyguard Maurice Ogeta has allegedly been abducted.
Now this news concerning Babu Owino getting arrested has gone viral on different social media platforms where by it’s sparking mixed reactions from netizens currently.
Many are out to say thaat Babu Owino should not be arrested and any other Azimio leader mostly during this demos sesion while, others are out asking some more information concerning Babu Owino’s alleged arrest at the same reactions at the same.
The Azimio la Umoja coalition has announced their intention to continue protesting against the government of President William Ruto. From Wednesday to Friday this week, the coalition plans to rally their supporters, taking to the streets to amplify their demands even as President William Ruto has vowed that no destructive protests will be allowed.
