Mary Wanyonyi; who took office as the Commission on Revenue Allocation’s (CRA) new chairman earlier today Monday, July 17th, will get a sizable stipend and other benefits as spelt forth by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC).

Wanyonyi would be eligible for a gross monthly salary of Ksh765,188 as the spouse of former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairperson Wafula Chebukati.

Additionally, a government vehicle with an engine no bigger than 3,000 cc will be given to her. Additionally, she will be eligible for Ksh300,000 in outpatient care and Ksh10 million for inpatient treatment. Additionally, she will receive Ksh75,000 for ocular services and Ksh150,000 for maternity services.

She would be given a Ksh20,000 monthly airtime allowance in addition to a Ksh50,000 yearly leave allowance. A car loan up to Ksh8 million and a mortgage up to Ksh35 million will also be given to the CRA chairperson.

She won’t be qualified for a committee sitting allowance, an official dwelling allowance or a taxable car allowance, though.

Her responsibility will be to ensure an efficient transfer of funds between the national and county administrations.

Chebukati praised his wife for getting the prestigious job shortly after she was sworn in and urged her to obey the law while in office.

“Your commitment and knowledge will surely help the CRA fulfill its mission and provide prosperity to all Kenyans. Continually uphold the Law and the Constitution. I wish you much luck in this crucial position,” he said.

Wanyonyi has both a Bachelor of Commerce and a Master of Business Administration. She held the position of Head of the Accounting Unit at the Ministry of Lands before being appointed.
