Salim Swaleh, once a respected journalist in Kenya, is now scrumbling after being caught up in a web of deceit.

The downfall of Salim is as shocking as it is tragic. Salim wasn’t always in the headlines for the wrong reasons, he was the media star all tuned to.

He began his career at ‘ghetto radio’ where he was paid nothing. Due to his hard work, he got his first paying job at ‘Sauti ya Mwananchi’ in Nakuru where he was paid Ksh. 8000. He then went to Iran to polish his skills and he returned to Kenya and joined Citizen tv in 2016. After two years, NTV took him from Citizen tv.He rose his ranks and became the top swahili news reporter and editor.

Due to his success, the office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, came calling. In January 2023, he was called to be the director of press services. Of course the benefits of working in an office government came by.

Like so many who fall to his position, he succumbed to the corrupting influence of his position. In just under two years of working at the office of the prime cabinet secretary, he traded his press freedom for a golden ticket to the dark side, and what started as a promising career in journalism, swiftly spriraled into the waters of corruption.

He found himself in a messy situation that transformed him from a storyteller on our televisions to a swindler behind the scenes. Salim along with a team of people, rented out their offices to a group of people looking to make money through illegal dealings.

They even switched their name tags on the doors to distract security. But an eagle eyed security team tipped off the ministry and a full scale operation began by the ministry. The security team cleverly tracked a group of imposters posing as visitors. These smooth operators would find their way into the Prime Cabinet secretary’s office posing as VIP guets.

Salim and his team was caught red handed and their situation even got worse as they tried to bribe their way out of the situation. This legal drama continues to unfold as Salim faces a court room battle over the Ksh. 5.8 million charges.

With his fate now in the hands of the court, the once media star now waits to see what the court will decide.
