When he (William Ruto) named him the Chief of Defense Forces on 15th March, many were taken by surprise , Gen. Francis Ogolla was former president Uhuru Kenyatta’s pointman and it was to be revealed later that he was among those who stormed the Bomas of Kenya allegedly trying to overturn William Ruto’s win.
Therefore many expected that he would be the least favourable, the president in a joint press interview revealed this saying he told the now CDF boss what he thought of him.
“I called him and I sat him down. I told him my friend you went to Bomas to try and overturn my victory but because you are the best person to be general I am going to give you the job. That is how it works with me,” he pointed out.
“He told me ‘I have no defence you do with me whatever you want. What I did was wrong’. What exercised my mind is that yes, this gentleman might have made a mistake maybe because the commander in chief that time told him what to do.”
Months later, they seem to be working well with the president. He was appointed task force chairperson on the Development of Kenya Home of Human Origins Museum and Science Park in the Lake Turkana Basin steering committee.
Ogolla is said to have been aboard a KDF Chopper that crashes in Marakwet before busting into flames. 3 people of the 9 are said to have survived but the state of the general is unknown.
