National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wa on Monday issued a statement in Mumias constituency, Kakamega county that seems to be targeted at Trans-Nzoia county boss George Natembeya.
Speaking in Mumias, Mr Ichung’wa appreciated Kakamega county boss Fernandes Barasa and his Bungoma counterpart Ken Lusaka for doing great job to elevate the poverty level in Western region, unlike some governors from the region who he claimed only talk much.
Mr Ichung’wa noted that there are some governors from Western Kenya who instead of working towards elevating the poverty level in Western Kenya, they walk around preaching about the poverty.
“There are some governors in this region whose work is say there is high poverty level in this region yet they do nothing about the poverty level. Governor Barasa and Lusaka are working on elevating the poverty level not by speaking but by action.” He said
Even though he did not mention specific name, everyone knows that Ichung’wa was taking a swipe at Trans Nzoia county boss George Natembeya who has been his political nemesis in the recent past.
Ichung’wa has been a strong critic of Mr Natembeya following the governor’s decision to call out President William Ruto and the Kenya Kwanza administration over abductions and failed promises.
