Tanzanian singer TID has issued a warning to Kenyan musicians, especially urban tone musicians, against using his music for remixes after his song “Watasema Sana” went viral on TikTok.
Speaking on Wednesday at Quivers Lounge in Nairobi, the singer further stated that he would report anyone planning to use his song to the police, leading to their arrest.
“If you take my song and use it for your urban tone without my permission, you are in trouble, my young brothers, and I will hold it against you for the rest of my life,” he emphasized.
The Tanzanian singer, who is in Kenya for two weeks, expressed his interest in collaborating with Kenyan musicians and comedians to elevate East Africa on an international level.
Regarding international recognition, he commented, “You know, now anybody can say anything. You can’t stop that. But the fact remains that we used to have international artists, and today they are still here, performing all over the world.
I saw Khaligraph Jones performing. That’s what? An international artist. He’s moving to another country, and that’s an international artist. What more international artist do you want?”
The “Watasema Sana” hitmaker also met with Kenyan public figures like Eric Omondi, Sanaipei Tande, and others.
