A section of Residents in Kilifi have raised their voices in a cry for help, urging President William Ruto to intervene in response to pressing concerns affecting their community. In a recently surfaced video shared by The Standard Digital, a distressed woman from Kilifi passionately addresses the President, concerning how they are being treated by security personnel in the area.

Amidst the ongoing crackdown on illicit brews across the country, the residents from Kilifi have sent a heartfelt plea to President William Ruto to intervene since the administrators have now descended on their popular local beverage, ‘Mnazi’.

The coastal region is renowned for ‘Mnazi,’ a traditional liquor derived from the sap of the coconut tree. However, recent law enforcement activities targeting the production and sale of the beverage have put the residents on the receiving end as the police haven’t spared them.

The woman, whose identity remains undisclosed, passionately defended the drink, asserting that ‘Mnazi’ is not the type of alcohol that poses health risks.

Expressing her distress, she claimed that administration and security personnel have been conducting raids and arresting ‘Mnazi’ sellers. She further alleged that during arrests, sellers are coerced into parting with a sum of 2000 shillings yet sometimes they haven’t made any sales.

The video also featured additional speakers who vehemently defended ‘Mnazi,’ and implored the Head of State to listen to their pleas.
