When a man forces a prostitute to have intercourse with him, upon being presented in a court of law, is the matter considered rape or shoplifting? This is one tough question locals in Nyeri are scratching their heads over. Ordinarily, most prostitutes drug and steal from their supposed clients.

The charms and precision they use is so surgical that even men of God have fallen victims on several occasions. A tale is, for instance, told of two overambitious men of God from Nyeri County who, in their desperation to grow their church membership, got lured to preach at a brothel, only to be raped and robbed.
As the story goes, the pastors visited the brothel to convert and win over the hookers to their church. Instead, the sex workers seduced and lured them to bed and later confiscated their Bibles and clothes, following a verbal combat over the small matter of payment.
Sources said the pastors had genuine and good intention, but the wanton display of brazen nudity disoriented them, making them succumb to temptations. Differently put, the men of God broke the Sixth Commandment.
Upon regaining composure, a fight broke out, with the pastors insisting that they canât pay and wonât pay. They told the prostitutes to go to hell, arguing that sleeping with them was not their original mission. In the end, Good Samaritans clothed the men of God who left the scene with egg all over their faces.

âMan bites dogâ news
Last week a related man-bites-dog news broke out in Nyeri County, leaving locals in stitches and shock. It was a typical case of hunter turned hunted when a watchman turned tables on two prostitutes and drugged and stole their loot.
He pretended to be a tea farmer, heavily loaded with tea bonus money, but later fled with their money and property after raping them for the better part of the night.
The man, believed to be in his early 40s, is said to hail from the neighbouring Kirinyaga County and landed employment as a night guard at a guest house in the town early this year.
Our source, a watchman in an adjacent apartment, revealed that the man had been studying prostitutes in the area and envying how easily they make money. When the local tea farmers received their bonus recently, the number of commercial sex workers in the town soared and so were cases men being robbed by sex workers.
The scheming watchman bought the sedating drug, commonly used by most con artists masquerading as prostitutes. While off-duty, he went into a local bar where the women of the night always pitch tent and proceeded to order beer.

As the night wore on, he spotted his prey and when he beckoned her to join him, her colleague followed and they began making merry.
âWhy should you be lonely over there when I am here? Take whatever drinks and meals you want on my bill. Money is not a problem,â he allegedly told the women. When asked what he does for a living, the sly man lied that he was a tea farmer much to their excitement.
Amorous congress
He invited them to his room for more private fun. He provided them with more drinks as they prepared for an amorous congress. However, that was not to be. All the women remember was waking up naked with their approximately Sh40,000, jewellery and, eh, sedating drugs missing.
The lodging staff confirmed that they had been drugged, robbed and also sexually exploited going by the used condoms strewn in the room. Because of the embarrassing nature of the matter, the prostitutes chose not to report the matter to police.
They shared their ordeal with attendants at the lodging and watchmen who could not help but only console them. The watchman has since gone into hiding.
