Several students from Itoleka Girls’ School had a really scary time when the brakes on their bus stopped working. This happened near Nithi Bridge while they were coming back from Meru to Kitui after taking part in drama festivals.

The bus had ten teachers and 38 students onboard. The driver, who was in charge, tried hard to control the bus when the brakes failed. He managed to steer it away from a big crash, but the bus ended up in a ditch beside Nithi Bridge.

Thankfully, even though it was a scary situation, everyone on the bus only got minor injuries. They were taken quickly to the hospital for treatment. The ambulance and medical team acted fast to help them.

This event reminds us all about how important it is to stay safe on the road, especially when traveling long distances. The students and teachers are lucky they didn’t get hurt badly, but it’s a wake-up call for everyone to be extra careful when traveling.

Now, the authorities need to figure out why the brakes failed so they can prevent it from happening again. It’s also essential to give support and counseling to those who went through this scary experience to help them feel better.
